Meet Kerry Mecusker
LCSW-S, SEP-INT (She/Her/Hers)
Founder & Therapist
My best times are the trips to Cape Cod, Massachusetts that my family has taken since I was little. I love the ocean and consider it to be nature’s best stress reliever. The name Currents honors these memories as well as my belief that we can learn to navigate inner and outer changes and pressures, trusting that even when the water feels turbulent, it carries us toward growth, healing, and deeper understanding.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Currents Counseling & Somatic Integration. I earned my master’s degree at the University of Texas in Austin and, from there, worked in community agencies including foster care and adoption, domestic violence shelter, and as a Counselor in a jail mental health unit. Realizing the impact of stress and trauma in the populations I served, as well as in my own nervous system, led me to discover somatic therapies. They are now my best tools in releasing the hold of stress and trauma, creating space for new insights and restoring a connection to the self.
At Currents, I am an active participant in the session with you, giving suggestions and pointing out patterns that I observe. Nervous system regulation is a primary focus of every session, particularly when there is emotionally activating, sometimes distressing, content. I am careful to avoid overwhelm in session and attempt to set a natural, manageable pace. I specialize in understanding relationship dynamics and I apply this with both individuals and couples. I particularly enjoy supporting social workers and other therapists in the work of sustaining their own energies. I would love to support your journey to calmer waters so please reach out to explore where we can go together.
