You don't have be defeated by depression.
Depression is a disorder that affects around 19 million Americans in a given year. Depression can be characterized by many symptoms that include but are not limited to: fatigue, feelings of sadness, anxiety, and emptiness, trouble concentrating, gaining or losing weight, change in sleep and appetite patterns, thoughts of suicide and hopelessness. Those who suffer with depression can have symptoms that range from mild to severe and can be linked to certain events, such as pregnancy, birth of a child, or the death of a loved one.
The good news is depression is treatable and there are many options to help address these symptoms. Some treatment options include therapy, antidepressants, and more holistic options such as homeopathic medications. The use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT) has shown to be effective in reducing depression for clients who participate in talk therapy.
